The Vienna Metrostars delivered one of the most dramatic games of the season on Saturday, showing once again why they are among the most exciting teams in the league.
After a blazing start and an early 11–0 lead — highlighted by explosive home runs from Carl Feldmann, Richard Alzinger, and a grand slam by Sammy Hackl — the matchup turned into a true thriller. The Grasshoppers fought their way back and managed to tie the game 11–11 in the ninth inning.
But the Metrostars stayed composed. In the 11th inning, the offense ignited once more: six runs, driven in by Alzinger, Benni Salzmann, Mark Rudolf, and Louis Patrick, sealed the deal. With the 17–13 victory, the boys secured a hard‑fought and fully deserved win.
In Game 2, the team again showed strong character, taking an early lead before narrowly dropping the matchup 3–5. Despite the loss, one thing is clear: this team is in the race, hungry, and proving every week that they are a force to be reckoned with.
The standings remain tight — and the Metrostars are right in the mix.
