The Metrostars U12 team is heading into a well-deserved summer break with a comfortable sweep against the Tulln Ravens. After a few close and sometimes unfortunate losses, our U12 team was able to show once again what they’re made of today amid the sweltering heat. Solid, precise pitching, aggressive baserunning, and sportsmanlike gestures toward our opponents show just how far this special Sub12 team has come. Why “special”?
At the start of the season, we had barely nine players, and hardly anyone knew the names of all the new players. Now, in August, we have a truly great group of 20 kids who cheer each other on, support one another, and encourage each other, even when they hit a minor technical or tactical slump.
But it’s not just the kids who have grown closer—the same goes for the coaching staff: Head Coach Wolfgang and assistant coaches Drew and Hermann. Every week, they’ve been able to provide intense and challenging training sessions to take us from zero to 100 in just a few months.
Special thanks also go to the parents—without whom none of this would have been possible. First and foremost, Martina Stoll, who captured the season for us as our photographer and, as team manager, did so much to ensure that almost all the parents got involved in a truly amazing way. Whether it was manning the grill, keeping score, playing walk-up music, setting up the field, selling drinks, and much more—it was as if we’d been practicing this for years.
Thank you to all of you!
