In the U14 matchup between the Vienna Metrostars and the Vienna Wanderers, the Metrostars put on a strong overall performance that was a marked improvement over their previous game against Trnava.

In the first game, Tobi took the mound as pitcher and Ibra as catcher—a combination that clicked right from the start. The Metrostars quickly found their rhythm and established themselves as early as the first inning. By the fourth inning, a close game had developed, with the Metrostars holding a narrow 7-6 lead. It wasn’t until the fifth inning, following a necessary change at the pitcher and catcher positions, that the Wanderers managed to score two runs and turn the game around, winning 8-7.

Offensively, the Metrostars impressed with several strong plays: Ibra and Tobi each shone with a double, and Tobi provided a real highlight with a home run. Philipp and Charlie also consistently delivered solid at-bats. Particularly encouraging was the performance of Jonas B., who immediately made his mark in his first U14 game with a hit and an RBI.

In the second game, Ibra took on the role of pitcher, while Philipp played catcher for the first time. The Metrostars started strong again and took the lead early in the first inning. But once again, the Wanderers countered and took the lead with three runs in the second inning.

However, the team’s offensive output remained strong: Tobi once again impressed with two doubles, as did Luis and Charlie, each with one double. Matteo also contributed a hit. Defensively, the team looked even more cohesive and solid in the second game. A particular highlight was a well-executed double play by Simon J. and Ibra, with Simon putting in an outstanding performance at second base today. Philipp’s winning run came on a solid single by Nils.

Overall, both the players and the coaches can be very satisfied with the performance. The improvement compared to previous games is clearly evident and leaves us wanting more.
